Buoyancy catcher
The Buoyancy Catcher is a purpose-built tool developed for field decommissioning operations, designed to efficiently retrieve buoyancy elements from subsea installations such as a flexible riser, lazy-S. It provides a fast, safe, and controlled method for catching and recovering subsea buoyancy modules during removal campaigns.
The system enables efficient subsea collection of buoyancy elements, allowing multiple units to be retrieved in each operation. Once brought to the surface, the design allows for a fast and safe unloading process on deck, minimizing handling time and improving operational safety.
A key advantage of the Buoyancy Catcher is the short turnaround time between recovery cycles. The tool can be quickly emptied and prepared for redeployment, allowing rapid return to subsea operations and maximizing vessel efficiency. It can be handled with a single crane.
With a strong capacity in terms of both total weight and number of buoyancy elements, the system can handle multiple modules in each run. It is also designed to accommodate a wide range of buoyancy element sizes, providing flexibility across different decommissioning projects and equipment types.
