Open Porch
The Open Porch system is a novel and innovative tie-in solution, representing a further improvement of the direct tie-in method. It builds on the robustness and familiarity of traditional operations while introducing new technology that enhances performance, flexibility, and installation efficiency.
The system features an open porch configuration designed for export lines and supports large bore applications. It significantly minimizes subsea operations, reducing offshore complexity and overall installation risk. By streamlining the installation process, it saves valuable vessel time and lowers project costs.
The design eliminates the need for side shift during installation, which simplifies alignment and improves operational efficiency. It also makes secondary tie-ins easier to perform, while still using the traditional tie-in method with standard industry tools. The tie-in tools themselves are patented, and the latest enhancements are currently patent pending.
The open porch can be supplied with a skid incorporating a skidding mechanism, enabling precise axial alignment of the open porch relative to the pipeline. It utilizes the standard stroking tool, providing a cost-effective solution while minimizing risk and reducing overall system complexity. The design can also include an adjustable pipe support to accommodate varying conditions, and may be fitted with a mudmat to form a complete bottom support structure.
Adaptable to varying pipeline inclinations
This new technology is engineered to adapt to varying pipeline inclinations, accommodating both heading and yaw angles to ensure precise and reliable connections under different seabed conditions.
Importantly, the system reduces tie-in loads during installation and operation. It efficiently transfers operational loads—such as those resulting from pipeline expansion—into the connected modules in a controlled manner. This load management capability enhances structural integrity and long-term performance.
The solution is available in multiple configurations to suit different project requirements. It can be delivered as a standalone open porch system, integrated with a PLET or as a complete bottom structure including a mudmat. Alternatively, it can be incorporated into a skid solution that includes a pipe lifting tool, an elevator, and an axial alignment tool for precise positioning and alignment of the PLET or skid during installation. This modularity further enhances design freedom for both installation activities and the development of the entire subsea field.
The system comes with a complete tie-in tool suite. The design enables straightforward use of cleaning tools, seal replacement tools, and the stroking tool, ensuring an efficient and reliable tie-in operation.
