The Subsea Loading System (SLS) is designed as part of an offloading solution for shallow oil fields that do not have access to an export pipeline or a floating storage unit such as an FSO or FPSO. The system enables direct transfer of produced oil from the field to shuttle tankers, providing a practical and cost-effective alternative for field developments where permanent export infrastructure is not available.

The SLS is connected to the field’s export line and interfaces directly with the tanker’s offloading system. The system typically consists of a base structure with ballast load, a horizontal tie-in system, and a lever arm (yoke) equipped with a swivel and a vertical connection. It also includes a hose or riser system fitted with buoyancy elements and heavy pipe sections to ensure proper positioning, stability, and load control during operation.

Designed with installation efficiency in mind, the SLS can be installed either as a single integrated unit or in separate modules, depending on vessel capabilities and project requirements. To support accurate tanker positioning during offloading operations, the system is equipped with a transponder system that assists the tanker in positioning itself correctly for retrieving the messenger line.

For safe connection to the tanker’s offloading equipment, the system also includes a Hose End Valve (HEV). The SLS is delivered as a complete, ready-to-use system where all components are designed to work together as an integrated solution. All parts of the system are qualified to Technology Qualification Level (TQL) 7, ensuring a high level of maturity, reliability, and operational readiness for offshore use.
